ANGELS REJOICED

   C

A house not a home was the picture Satan painted

      F                      C

For sweet little sister and me;

Our daddy would frown while Mother was praying,

                               G               C

His heart was so hardened that he would not believe.

   C                      F            C

In anger he'd swear, his voice was so loud,

                                               G

His Sundays were spent out with the gambling crowd;

     C                     F               C

I'd never seen my daddy inside a house of God,

                                   G               C

For Satan held his hand, down the path of sin he trod.

Not long ago our circle was broken

      F                         C

When God called our mother one night;

In a voice sweet and low her last words were spoken

                     G                  C

Asking our daddy to raise her children right.

    C                   F           C

The angels rejoiced in heaven last night,

                                              G

I heard my daddy praying, "Dear God, make it right";

         C                       F            C

He was smiling and singing with tears in his eyes,

                               G            C

While Mother with the angels rejoiced last night.
